It’s not enough for Congress to hold committee hearings.We must start taking real action to address the complete failure of this administration.
Mills wrote on X:
High-level officials in this administration blatantly ignored intel that Americans and our allied partners in Kabul would be left behind in harm’s way unless the U.S. corrected course in our withdrawal.
As a result, nearly 200 people, including 13 American service members, were murdered at Abbey Gate in Kabul, Afghanistan, two years ago.
The Congressman continued:
Because of this clear dereliction of duty, today I am introducing articles of impeachment for Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin.
The United States withdrew its troops from Afghanistan in August 2021, resulting in the Taliban retaking the country and 13 United States soldiers dying.
Rep. Mills has spoken out multiple times about how the Obiden Regime must be held accountable for the botched withdrawal in Afghanistan.
The Congressman said on an episode of the Just the News, No Noise TV show:
I think that there still needs to be accountability for the State Department, for Secretary Lloyd Austin, the Department of Defense and for others for this failed withdrawal that abandoned Americans and cost Americans their lives.
The impeachment articles have been supported by some members of Congress, including Colorado GOP Rep. Lauren Boebert.
Boebert wrote on X:
There must be accountability for the embarrassing withdrawal in Afghanistan that killed hundreds of people and thirteen American soldiers.
Mills called on Congress to act and not just have meetings on what occurred in Afghanistan.
